Location flexible: Role can be based in Singapore, Malaysia or Philippines 

Our Client is offering an opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join their leading Global business, to develop their Scaffolding Division across the East Asia Pacific Region. This is an exciting entrepreneurial opportunity for someone who can successfully combine strategic insight with exceptional execution and business development skills.  The role will work closely with sales and product development teams in the country, region, and headquarters.

This is an individual contributor role and reports to Head of Sales EAP.


Experience in the construction, industrial and O&G sectors advantageous;
Bachelor degree in science or engineering;
At least 10 years of sales experience in scaffolding;
Good understanding of the requirements of industrial scaffolding customers;
Sound knowledge of scaffolding systems and standards ideally ring-lock system;
Practical on-site scaffolding experience advantageous; 
Proficient computer skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
Ability to understand novel problems and find solutions;
Well-developed numerical ability and detail orientation;
Strong sales fundamentals and skills: listening, probing, negotiation, close;
Ability to build strong and long lasting relationships particularly with clients;
Ability to communicate and engage with people at different levels in the organization;
Confident in demeanour and assertive in approach;
Ability to embrace challenge, criticism, and opposition (entrepreneurial thinking);
Ability to quickly bounce back from disappointments and maintain a positive attitude (entrepreneurial thinking);
Clear communication skills in English language;
Willingness to travel and be mobile.

Role & Responsibilities:

To conduct a strategic overview of the market including market need identification, product identification, product changes required, estimation of market potential, potential customers;
To support Country Managing Directors with strategic target setting and demand planning; 
To define scaffolding standards for the region and countries;
To build and train scaffolding teams (Engineering and Sales) in various countries in the region;
To understand the brand, products, and services completely and how they compare with competition;
To identify & solicit potential customers and projects to secure industrial scaffolding business;
To ensure there is full knowledge of all the key customers decision makers and key influencers;
To support country sales teams to acquire key and large scale-projects; 
To build strong and profitable relationship with personnel in customer organization;
To manage and maintain a pipeline capable of delivering the budget;
To respond to sales enquires and convert them into orders;
To provide clients with quotations and technical assistance;
To service clients on a regular basis and provide scaffolding know-how;
To maximize revenue from clients;
To manage projects/determine project sales strategy (cost planning, pricing of tender, determine revenue and negotiate terms and conditions of contract);
To collaborate with the engineering team and ensure that the most efficient scaffolding design is applied;
To devise the most profitable way to win and service business for the company;
To be accountable to all credit interactions with customer and ensure payment is received in full;
To ensure customer satisfaction with equipment and production delivery;
Ensure proper recording and coordination of shipments & returns;
To collaborate with operations team to ensure that delivery is made on time;
To be the main point of contact for scaffolding enquiries in the Asia Pacific.
