Job Description

To provide management to engineering teams across India.

Requirements:

Chartered Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Relevant industry experience 
Regional experience
Knowledge of formwork and falsework systems

Key Accountabilities:

Ensure that engineering work undertaken conforms to Risk Management Policy and Procedures. 
Implement procedures across India that maintain controls and review the engineering work undertaken to ensure its compliance with the Risk Management Policy.
Work with the Chief Engineer (from Group) and Managing Director (India) in aiding the development of departmental plans aligned to the strategic objectives of the India business.
Manage direct reports in the engineering function in a manner consistent with the ISO principles adopted by and the policies set by the company.  
In conjunction with the HR Manager, MD (India) and local managers determine training needs for technical staff by ensuring they are continually appraised in accordance with the Engineering and Design Matrix.
In conjunction with the HR Department and local managers, be involved in recruitment decisions and ongoing performance management in the technical department.
Take full responsibility for projects with multiple schemes.
Where the volume of work dictates, manage an interim project team of Engineering Staff in order to satisfy the needs of the project and to report project progress in a consistent format to senior staff.
Manage the technical interface between company and the customer for the largest projects with multiple work fronts or structures. Agree and achieve target dates across the project.
Relatively frequent direct contact with customers to agree progress to date, discuss future project needs and negotiate future deadlines for submission of technical work.
Where required to assist the Sales Team in the negotiation of contracts.

Key Competencies:


Have a detailed knowledge of calculating wind loadings to BS6399:2 and be able to apply loads to non-standard situations.
Have a detailed working knowledge of BS5975.
Be able to carry out a full beam design to BS449 including stiffeners and combined stresses.
Be able to design and detail complex specials to BS449.
Be able to carry out frame analysis using Masterseries in 2D & 3D
Be able to design non-standard access scaffolds including sheeted scaffolds.
Be able to develop innovative engineering solutions.
To contribute to the raising of technical standards in conjunction with other senior staff.
